Marlin manufacture dates

I have my father's Marlin model 1893 with serial number C3595. An ealier web site query indicated it was manufactured before 1883.. The rifle is a 30-30 caliber but I still have some of the original Reminton cartridges that are 25-36 caliber. I was wondering anyone could help determine the actual date of manufacture.

I finally was able to date one of my older Marlin 80DL's... I found a "U" stamped into the top outer edge of the ejection port after going over this rifle with a fine tooth comb (so to speak). I would have never thought to look there - but there it was. So now I know. The year of manufacture for U = 1960 (August)-1961., A belted cartridge with about the same powder capacity as the 45-70. Available from: 2000 - 2010. Cartridges: .450 Marlin. Notes: The first models between 2000-2002 were optionally available with a factory ported barrel.
